Girls champions, Tordo deputy president, general manager Domergue
Tuesday, June 08, 2010
A Weekend full of positive events for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur especially in the second feminine division, the RNCA were victorious over Béziers, 15-12 Sunday in Berre. Superb conclusion to a successful season from beginning to end. Apart from this last match, the general meetings of the association and the SASP was held last Friday at Arboras and it was the opportunity to formalize several decisions for the SASP. Paul White confirmed that he would be the new chairman of the SASP surrounded by two Deputy Presidents: Mark Thomas and Jeff Tordo, in charge of sport. The Board of Directors of the SASP then appointed Marc-Andre Domergue the post of general manager. Former RNCA player, osteopathe, Marc-Andre Domergue, 39, succeeds Anthony Hill. Julien Schramm confirmed that he was taking a step back for occupational reasons. The trio of coaches Johnson, Szezur and Boutet, as expected, is renewed. And the 2010-2011 season is already in active preparation....
The end for Nice
Sunday, May 09, 2010
A harsh result for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur who were beaten 19-18 by St Etienne on Sunday in the barrage match in Bédarrides. Cruel because the match was lost in the 87th minute due to an incredible drop goal by the St Etienne number 10, Alexandre Péclier, which was over 50 meters long. Cruel but not necessarily unfair as Nice failed to bring the ingredients it takes to beat a good opponent, even an opponent they have beaten twice this season (23-44 and 30-16). Nice were not ambitious enough in the game and let Saint-Etienne grow in confidence. So the season ends for RNCA. A disappointment which should not over shadow the success of the team and coaches - Manu Boutet, Will Johnson and Nicolas Szezur. Even though Nice have not made it to the quarter final this season has been a huge success. Nice will use this offseason to prepare for season 2010-11, including the appointment of a new management for the SASP to succeed Anthony Hill (who is in advanced talks with Stade Français). Julien Schramm will take a step back for professional reasons....

Nice – Saint-Etienne in Bédarrides
Wednesday, May 05, 2010
It is official Nice will play off against St Etienne in the barrage in Bédarrides on Sunday the 9th of May at 3pm. The ground at Bédarrides is familiar to the Nice team as this is where they played the play-down final against Lavaur last season and easily beat Bédarrides on their home turf this season. Nice have already beaten St Etienne twice this season (23-44 and 30-16) but they will be giving it everything to show that they are worthy of their place in the final stages of the Fédérale 1. If RNCA succeed this Sunday then they will find themselves face to face with Chalon-sur-Saône in the quarter final playing home and away legs. Home leg on the 15/16th may and away in Chalon on Sunday the 23rd May....
Paul White the new president of the SASP
Wednesday, April 28, 2010
As expected when the SASP (Société Anonyme Sportive Professionnelle) was created the board of director elected a new president on the 28th April. Paul White the principal shareholder of the club has now become the president of the SASP. This is proof of the involvement of the British businessman and his desire to invest heavily in Nice rugby club. John Hall therefore conceeds his place but remains a director of the SASP. Paul White also wanted to have a second in command at his side has made the choice of Mark Thomas, a former Swansea and Cambridge player but more importantly an ex Nice player....
Nice in the 'Barrage'
Sunday, April 18, 2010
By dominating Cahors with a score of 44 - 8 on Saturday night at the Stade des Arboras Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur have already secured their place in the barrage, even before their away match against Chalon-sur-Saone on the 2nd May. The goal of the season has been achieved and Nice are amongst the top-12 best teams in this difficult championship, the Fédérale 1. The bonus point earned against Cahors (5 tries to 1) also confirms RNCA's current form as a number of players were still missing for in this game, above all in the second row with the absence of Beattie, Derrstroff, Boukanoucha and Rouillier. As Chalon beat Castanet with the attacking bonus (25-40), this coming away match will not affect Nice's position. Chalon is assured to finish first with Nice second. RNCA can prepare for the barrage now and will face teams which will be confirmed after the last play-off game this weekend. Amongst their potential opponents are: Limoges, Graulhet or Marseilles, Valence d'Agen Langon, Perigueux, Vannes, Saint-Etienne ... The barrage is played as one match on neutral ground. After this there still remains the last phase of the season (barrage on the 9th of May) the quarter-final first leg is on the 16th of May and the return leg on the 23rd of May, followed by the semi-final home and away and the final where the PRO D2 is within reach. With the return of injured players, the Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur could play its role as an outsider for promotion convincingly....
Presentation of Torball with RNCA
Monday, April 12, 2010

In preparation for the first International tournament of Torball, which will take place on the 24th April at the St Barthélémy sportshall in Nice, the association of A.N.I.C.E.S have invited the basketball players of Nice Basket Compétition and rugby player of Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur to present the sport to the public and press. These sports people will meet on the 14th April from 7.30pm - 9.30pm at the Terra Amata Gym, 2 Corniche André de Joly, 06300, Nice. Entrance is free....
A severe result for RNCA
Monday, March 29, 2010
The score is from yesterdays match (20-32) is severe and Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur deserved a much better result. A try by Lapierre which was unfairly denied in the first half, deliberate obvious offside play by the Chalon winger which should have earned a yellow card, a Chalon try scored from a bad kick - RNCA were ill fated. But in the end the victory went to the stronger team. Powerful, athletic and well organized, whether in the scrum or or line-out the Chalon pack laid the foundations for a convincing win. They showed Nice what is lacking if they are really to make a bid for the Pro D2. But Nice's defeat should not be taken as a setback. The RNCA are still in second place in Pool 2 of the Jean Prat trophy-which would qualify them for the finals. For now Nice must regroup to receive Castanet on Saturday, April 10. A crucial match that Nice must win as Castanet are only two points behind them in the table....
Nice V Chalon 28th March
Friday, March 12, 2010
It has been confirmed Nice will face Racing Chalon for their third play-off match on Sunday the 28th March at 3pm. RNCA wanted to hold this match on the Saturday night to benefit from their lighting which was newly installed in January, however Chalon, due to the organisation of their travel refused this proposition. The B teams will kick off at 1.30pm....
Another win in the play offs
Tuesday, March 09, 2010
Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur have achieved a lot this weekend by winning away in Cahors, 26 to 14 with a hatrick of superb tries including two for Dean Moxham, who displayed his skills in a great game. The only one regret is to have missed the attacking bonus point which was still available for Nice in the 74th minute before Cahors saved their honor by scoring a try from the pack. This second consecutive away victory (6th of the season) is very promising prior to receiving Chalon-sur -Saone, another favorite from the pool. This highly competitive game is expected to be played on Saturday, March 27 at night (subject to confirmation from Chalon and the FFR). This is a very important game for Nice, who will have the home advantage and will strive to confirm their amazing progress this season. More good news for RNCA, selection of full back Julien Caminati for the French amateur team who will face the English amateurs on 19th March in Roubaix....
Play-off: An important victory
Monday, March 01, 2010
By winning in Castanet during their first game in the Jean-Prat trophy, Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur have positioned themselves at the top of their play-off pool from the outset. A narrow victory, 27-26, but an important victory that puts Nice in the lead in Pool 2 along with Chalon, also narrowly winning, 16-15, in Cahors....

Castanet, Cahors and Chalon
Sunday, February 21, 2010

By winning against St. Etienne (30-16) in the last match of the qualifying phase, Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur have confirmed their 2nd place in Pool 3 and are already planning the second half of their season starting next Sunday at Castanet, a suburb of Toulouse. Pool 2 which contains RNCA will be confirmed by the FFR, but we already know that it is composed of the following teams: Chalon-sur-Saone, Nice, Castanet and Cahors. To qualify for the finals, Nice will have to finish in the top two after six games. If Manu Boutet and Will Johnson's men kick off the play-off's with an away win, they will be in a strong position for the second phase. RNCA's performance against Saint-Etienne left a feeling of good things to come. Despite the lack of continuity, after more than a month without games, Nice showed great desire and cohesion with a dominant scrum and three tries....
Last game of the pools
Friday, February 19, 2010
Nice face off against St Etienne this Sunday in the last match of the pool stages, both teams having already qulified for the Jean Pratt play-offs for promotion to the Pro D2. This is the last match for Manu Boutet and Will Johnson to fine tune the team before the play-offs start next weekend. Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur are assured to finish second place on Pool 3 however there is a chance of first place if Béziers lose at home against Chateaurenard without a defensive bonus point. Not a likely event. This match against St Etienne is above all an occasion for the team to find their rythym after a month of interupted training session due to the weather conditions. This is the last chance for the coaches to try new combinations without pressure before attacking the serious matches. The second rower Leduc will be making his debut with the first team, Lomé Fa'atau is making his big return from injury. The prop Traversa, the back rower Orméa, centres Ngawini and Keil, wingers Roman and Malavard will all play with the second team and will face the St Etienne B team at 1.30pm. Beattie, Rouillier, Herrera, Ducourtieux are all currently injured. Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur will be raising funds for the Earth Quake in Haiti on Sunday and hope that all supporters will give generously. Nice team: Caminati – Fa’atau, Benstaali, Mège, Lapierre – (o) MacHugh, (m) Chambon – Moxham, Sainte-Croix (cap), Mezencev – Boukanoucha, Leduc – Langlade, MacKie, Guarese. Remplaçants : Feldis, Canizares, Derrtrosff, J.Malavard, Delmonte, Kacharava, Dramé, G.Hill. ...
Nice V St Etienne postponed to the 21st Feb
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
The last pool match of this season has been postponed by the federation. Nice shall play St Etienne on home turf on Sunday the 21st February at 2.30pm....
RNCA get the result
Monday, January 25, 2010
By winning in Monteux on Sunday (15-10), Nice won their second consecutive away game and have consolidated their 2nd place in Pool 3 behind Beziers. They can no longer be caught and can even hope to finish the pool phase in first place: in the event that Beziers lose their last home game against Chateaurenard without defensive bonus and RNCA wins with an attacking bonus against St. Etienne. We shall know the outcome on Sunday, February 14th when St Etienne visit the Stade des Arboras. Manu Boutet and Will Johnson will be relying on the return of Ross Beattie, Grant Hill, Alexander Mezencev, Damien Delmonte, Billy Ngawini, Rudi Keil, Adrian Malavard and Lome Fa'atau. Despite delivering a very solid game Monteux made too many mistakes and Nice were able to demonstrate their skills and efficiency through the boot of Mark MacHugh who kicked four penalty goals from four before the scrum-half Greg Chambon successfully converted a drop goal at the end of the match. A match dominated and a game mastered and won....
The return of Dean Moxham
Friday, January 22, 2010
Good news for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur as the back rower dean Moxham comes back from injury for the away game against Monteux this Sunday. Having been out from the beginning of the season with a knee injury Moxham has now proven himself fit having played two games with the B team and has shown he is 100% ready for first team selection. Even though Nice have already qualified for the playoffs they will be giving it everything in Monteux to ensure that they finish second in pool 3. It will be an important game but without high pressure so giving Manu Boutet and Will Johnson more options. Ross Beattie and Billy Ngawini will be rested. Greg Chambon and Joss Lapierre will be playing 9 and 10, Mark McHugh shall be moving to full back and Julien Caminati will be on the bench. Other players returning to the squad are: François Ducourtieux, Julien Orméa, David Kacharava, Jérémy Benstaali and Julien Roman. Grant Hill, Alexandre Mezencev, Damien Delmonte, Adrien Malavard, Lomé Fa’atau will be returning for the game against St-Etienne at the Stade des Arboras in February. Ruddy Keil is away preparing for his marriage and Paddy Warwick is awaiting a knee operation....
Nice succeed at Tournefeuille
Monday, January 18, 2010
By winning in Tournefeuille, 18 to 3, Nice have reacted well following their home deafeat against Béziers (12-18), and have now qualified for the Jean Prat play-offs even though they still have two games to play (in Monteux and next Sunday and St. Etienne at the Stade des Arboras on February 14). Tournefeuille who are 5th with 21 points and Romans 6th with 20 points can no longer catch Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur in the table. The first goal of the season has already been reached for Nice, all that is left is to consolidate 2nd place behind Beziers. The game against Tournefeuille this weekend confirmed RNCA's capabilities as the opposition were skilled and playing conditions difficult. Players who came on from the Nice bench made all the difference in the second half scoring two tries. The first by Julien Caminati, who again showed he is a great talent, the second through the young Jeremy Malavard in the dying moments of the match....
Tournefeuille this Sunday
Friday, January 15, 2010
Having lost against Beziers on Saturday (12-18), Nice will try to bounce back in Toulouse on Sunday against Tournefeuille. Tournefeuille were promoted to the Fédérale 1 this season but are nevertheless a very good team. Their victories against Beziers and Chateaurenard are a warning to RNCA that this away game could be difficult. In the first leg at the Stade des Arboras Tournefeuille demonstrated the quality of their game despite being dominated by Nice (26-9, three tries to none). Manu Boutet and Will Johnson have made some changes for this match with a new front row starting and the return of Mege and Dramé in the backs. Seriously wounded in Bédarrides some time ago, Seb Herrera will not be playing for Tournefeuille to the disppointment of his brother, our number eight Greg Herrera....
The Setback
Sunday, January 10, 2010
On Saturday night Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur came face to face with a superior team who dominated the Nice pack on a pitch which had been transformed into a mud bath due to two days of incessant rain. The final score:12-18. Manu Boutet and Will Johnson's men managed to gain the defense bonus. The coaches were hoping for much more from this match between the top 2 teams in Pool 3 however the Béziers forwards pushed Nice into making mistakes in the ruck using their power and strength. Nice were consistent in the game and even led 9-7 going into half time thanks to intelligent play and good defense by Julien Caminati at full back. Sadly a foolish try coming from a loose ball at the beginning of the second half gave Béziers back their lead. In the final moments Nice were camped in Béziers' 22 and could have snatched an unexpected victory. With this victory Béziers have undoubtedly marked first place in Pool 3 as their territory. Now Nice have to bounce back from this match and consolidate second place in the table next Sunday in Tournefeuille. "This match has put Nice back in place, we can now see that we still have work to do" stated Manu Boutet "The result does not put into question how far we have already come, we just have to learn from it"....
NICE V BEZIERS. First place play off.
Friday, January 08, 2010
It will certainly be cold and wet for the kick off this Saturday at 6.30pm at the Stade des Arboras but it will be highly charged match which will be played between Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur and AS Béziers, a huge name in French rugby. There is everything to play for as both team are currently tying first place in Pool 3 of the Fédérale 1. This Saturday is the first night match to be played at the Stade des Arboras under the new floodlights and will be attended by the president of the French rugby Federation, Pierre Camou and the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi...One objective for RNCA, victory against one of the toughest teams in the Fédérale 1....

Bédarrides 13 - 38 Nice
Sunday, December 13, 2009
Nice left Bédarrides victorious (38-13) with the attacking bonus point yesterday evening. Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur put on a fantastic show as Béziers lost to Tournefeuille (22-20). The result: RNCA are top of the table. The match against Béziers on the 9th of January at the Stade des Arboras has now become even more exciting. The match will be the first RNCA night game and obviously a battle for Nice to keep their lead on pool 3. Even though, with their recent performances Nice are almost assured a place in the Jean-Pratt play offs for promotion. A huge plus from this match on Sunday is that RNCA came back without injuries or cards. The players have earned this break for the holidays and will be able to come back refreshed and ready to prepare for their biggest game of the season. On the program, two training sessions this week, then two weeks off before a training camp on the 2nd and 3rd of January. The staff will be counting on the returns of 2nd row-Ross Beattie, Back row-Greg Herrera, Centre-Rudi Keil and winger-Lomé Fa'atau. 2010 is looking good for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur....
Nice moving fowards
Monday, December 07, 2009
Nice allowed Romans to take the initiative during the first half of Sunday's match but then came out strong and in control during the second half. Manu Boutet and Will Johnson's men went on to win the match picking up the bonus point with a try from Julien Roman. Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur's victory did not seem inevitable at the start of the match and although the score may not fairly reflect the match it does reflect the difference between the two teams on the day. Romans started the match well attcking strongly and making Nice play their game however after 30 minutes they failed to break Nice's strong defence and faultered. Romans were dominated by the Nice forwards during the second half and the players brought on from the bench performed well securing the victory....
The team to face Romans this Sunday
Friday, December 04, 2009
Prop Guillaume Guarese and back row Cédric Delevallée have fallen ill, Ross Beattie, Greg Herrera and Dean Moxham are still in recovery from their injuries, Rudi Keil and Adrien Malavard picked up injuries against Chateaurenard, Paddy Warwick (knee) and Guillaume Delmotte (hip) require operations. RNCA still have many players missing for the match against Romans this Sunday at 3pm. However, coaches Manu Boutet and Will Johnson are counting on the return of player such as prop Grant Hill (now registered to play having officially change his nationality to French), second row Antoine Derrstoff, back row Alex Mezencev, centre David Kachavara and full back Julien Caminatito take on Roman this weekend....

Nice just miss out on victory
Sunday, November 22, 2009
Despite having scored three tries to one against Chateaurenard Nice could not bring home a win. Final score 22-19, just three points which means that Nice do bring home the defensive bonus. This match is a huge disappointment to RNCA who out played Chateaurenard on the day but came away in second place. The refereeing of the match was one sided giving a large number of penalties to the home team whilst missing penalties that should have been awarded to RNCA. Nice were missing the following players: Prop-Grant Hill, second rows-Ross Beattie and Antoine Derrstroff, back rows-Dean Moxham and Alexandre Mezencev, fly-half Josselin Lapierre, centre-David Kachavara, full back-Julien Caminati....not to mention Manu Rouillier who fell victim to an allergic reaction in the changing room prior to the match and Rudi Keil who pulled his calf at the last minute during the warm up....
Stade des Arboras lights up!
Thursday, November 19, 2009

We are nearly there...soon the Stade des Arboras will shine thanks to the installation of new floodlights. Following two and a half months work using 500 tonnes of concrete the project is now taking shape with the last of the lights having been put in place today. The arrival of Béziers on Saturday January the 9th will be the inauguration of the lights, the first night game to take place at the Stade des Arboras and what a match it will be....
Saint-Etienne - NICE: 23 - 44
Monday, November 16, 2009
Nice mark their territory. Nice put on a superb performance on Sunday in Saint Etienne winning with a score of 23-44. Six tries to one, gaining a bonus point Nice are now second in Pool three with only one point between them and the leaders Béziers. This puts Nice in a strong position in the championship which will need reinforcing this Sunday at Chateaurenard. Chateaurenard will want to revenge their loss at the Stade des Arboras and also having come from a win against Béziers away they will be a tough opposition. Nice proved that they have the mental toughness and skill by winning away last weekend. Missing nine players through injury (Mackie, Beattie, Derrstroff, Mezencev, Moxham, McHugh, Warwick, J. Malavard, Dramé) and whilst David Kachavara was selected for the Georgian national team, Grant Hill is still waiting for his licence and winger Julien Roman was not available. Effectively Nice were missing 12 players in total....
With Lomé Fa'atau
Friday, November 06, 2009
This Saturday Nice are welcoming Monteux and this match will be the chance for the Samoan winger, Lomé Fa'atau (finally back from a thigh injury) to make his big debut for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur. Also returning to the sqaud is Emmanuel Rouiller who is replacing Salim Boukanoucha (suspended due to his second yellow card during the match against Chateaurenard). Rudi Keil will be starting the match as centre and prop Grant Hill will be back on the field....
Nice V Monteux, Saturday at 3pm
Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Initially organised for 4pm, the kick off of Nice V Monteux on Saturday at the Stade des Arboras will be at 3pm (the B team kick off will be at 1.30pm). The construction of the floodlights is not yet finished so RNCA are taking into acccount the daylight saving and have moved the kick off to avoid any visibilty issue for the players, officials and spectators....
Nice get the result.
Monday, November 02, 2009

Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur struggled to dominate Chateaurenard at the beginning of Sunday's match due to Chateaurenard's organisation in the forwards. Les Niçois did eventually come through as the stronger team winning 19-3. Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur were so close to gaining their bonus point following a strong last 20 minutes, but unfotunately Bastien Sainte-Croix was denied a try which was only centimeters from the line in the dying minutes of the game. Moni and Boutet's men had to be contented by the two tries, the first from centre David Kachvara and the second from replacement scrum half Greg Chambon. Two tries to reward RNCA as they kept their eyes on the task in hand throughout the whole match even though the score was tight (6-3 after an hour of play). 'A serious match' commented Christophe Moni, and a victory which reinforces Nice's position in the top 4 of Pool 3. RNCA are well positioned as they going into their home game against Monteux on Sunday the 8th November at 3pm....
Christophe Moni leaves Nice
Monday, November 02, 2009
Christophe Moni has carefully deliberated his decision to step back from Rugby Nice Côte d'azur due to his work commitments in Paris. Nice's head coach has decided that he cannot give 100% to the club due his business interests in Paris 'You cannot be a part-time coach....you have to give yourself 100% and I am currently unable to do this. Therefore I have decided to give up my position as head coach'. Moni continued, 'This is not an end to my involvement with the club...I will remain close to the club which is in good hands and still on the right track to becoming a huge success'. The team have put things into place, Manu Boutet and Nicolas Szeur have done a great job at the club and will continue in their roles with aid from Will Johnson and Kevin Yates who have a fantastic understanding of rugby. I am very optimistic for the club especially the youth team that have gained huge success already this season'. Julien Schramm, director of RNCA stated 'Christophe has brought a lot to the club since his arrival in 2007, his charisma and experience of top level rugby he have given the club new dimensions. Even though he is leaving his coaching role here he will stay close to the club which is great news. His future, I am sure is with Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur'. Anthony Hill, general manager of the club said 'Christophe is only thinking of the club in stepping down from his duties, knowing that he cannot give as much as we need. Christophe is a huge name in French rugby and very important for the club this is why we are delighted that he will stay in contact with the club and through his work in Paris become an ambassador of RNCA'......
The Awakening of RNCA
Monday, October 26, 2009

26-9, 3 tries to zero, Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur completed the task in hand against Tournefeuille on Sunday in their fourth scheduled match of the Fédérale 1 season by winning and gaining the bonus point. This was their third match played so far in 09/10 with a match in hand to be played at the Stade des Arboras against Chateaurenard this coming Sunday, 1st November at 3pm. In the event that Nice win this coming match on Sunday they will reinforce their position high in the top four of the table, more in line with their ambitions....
Nice V Chateaurenard with Miss Côte d'Azur
Monday, October 26, 2009

Following their victory against Tournefeuille (29-6), Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur are welcoming Chateaurenard this Sunday at Stade des Arboras (3pm). This match, which was scheduled as the first match of the season, then rescheduled twice will finally be played. Sunday's match is an opportunity for RNCA to re-inforce their place in the top 4 of the table and affirm their ambition to qualify for the play-offs. RNCA, however, are still missing certain players through injury and will also not be able to field players that were not registered before the 20th September (the original match date) namely Grant Hill and winger Lome Fa'atau. On the other hand Cédric Delevalée who is on a match ban following his sending off against Tournefeuille, will be able to participate in this match. Mark McHugh will be rested this week following a thigh injury last week. The kick off will be given by Miss Côte d'Azur, the beautiful Anaïs Governatori (20 years old), our future Miss France....
Young Orméa is in the group.
Friday, October 23, 2009
The young back rower, Julien Orméa (19 years old) has been included in the squad for the match against Tournefeuille this weekend. Orméa is a product of Nice's successful école de rugby having come up through the ranks from a very young age having played for the junior internationals and spending two years playing for Toulon. He is a player with an exciting career ahead of him and this match will be his first appearance this season in the first team jersey. Nice will also be welcoming back from injury Stuart Mackie and wingers Paddy Warwick and Youssouf Dramé. Julien Roman will be rested this weekend. Prop Guillaume Guarese, who sprained his ankle in Béziers will be unavailable to play for the next two weeks and will be joining: Yates, Johnson, Moxham, J Malavard, Fa'Atau, Ngawini, Fiotakis....

The heavy defeat in Béziers (38-11, 4 tries to 1) is a huge disappointment for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur, however this severe scoreline does not fairly reflect the difference between the teams on Saturday. In the opinion of many observers Nice were out of luck from the kick off. There was a strong wind which blew in Béziers favour during the first half which then died during the second half when Nice would have benefitted. Added to this three yellow cards left Nice at fourteen men for 30 minutes which is a huge handicap in front of such a strong opposition as Béziers....
Béziers V Nice, a historical match
Thursday, October 15, 2009

Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur are heading to Béziers this Saturday the 17th October for the 4th match in the Fédérale 1 season 09/10. A match which will stir up memories for RNCA. Béziers and Nice faced off in the final of the Top 14 division in 1983 at the Parc des Princes. Béziers came out victorious with a score of 14-6. It was a strange match which included a pitch invasion by the Béziers supporters in the final quarter of the match when Béziers were leading 10-6. There was still everything to play for but the referee Réné Horquet did not stop the match - he could have and of course should have. Nice, who were tipped to have a very promising future in French rugby, never did manage to win the championship. Semi-Final 1984 beaten by Agen, Quarter Final 1985 beaten by Toulon and eliminated from their 8th final by Montferrand in 1986....

Nice, frustrated winners.
Sunday, October 04, 2009
It was the Bédarrides team as we know it that turned out infront of RNCA on Saturday at the Stade des Arboras, agressive with very strong forwards. It took a lot of patience and self discipline from Les Nicois to win this match which was continually stop-start due to the incomprehensible decisions and whistle blowing by the referee....

Nice V Grasse the future taking shape
Monday, September 07, 2009
More notable than the score 46-15 and the victory against Grasse on Saturday at the Stade des Arboras is the spirit that prevailed in this match and which should be highlighted. As if a new energy was taking root in Alpes-Maritimes rugby clubs on the Riviera. Grasse are now led on the field by the legendary Eric Melville, and off the pitch by their president Eric Berdeu, former full back of Nice. This goes to prove that Nice will surely not be the only club to build a lasting spirit of rugby in our region. Great rivals in past years, Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur RO Grasse now look likely partners in the world of rugby on the riviera....

Tuesday, May 26, 2009
Rugby Nice Cote d'Azur got the desired result from a rugby match which was less than perfect last weekend in Lourdes. Nice in the quarter finals
Monday, April 20, 2009

With a predictable - if somewhat laboured - 24-16 victory over Mauléon on Sunday, Nice acheived its objective - qualifying directly for the quarter finals, which have home-and-away games on 10 and 17 May. So the team has three weeks to prepare itself and build up its fitness. Because the Mauléon match was far from perfect. Despite the clear superiority of their pack, Nice never quite got the better of the Basques, tenacious in defence and effective in the rucks....

Nice lose at Mauléon
Monday, March 23, 2009

With a very young team, Nice could have come home with a win from Mauléon on Sunday. Despite defeat (17-9), the men from Nice didn’t waste their time in front of a solid enthusiastic team and a large crowd of 3,000 people. It was the occasion for coach Christophe Moni to make some changes and test different players, such as Julien Caminati at number 10, and members from the under 21 team....

After Arras - Boucau...
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
'Les Nicois' came away with a great win considering the very difficult journey to the away game in Arras last Sunday. Carrying 12 injuries into the game, Nice still managed to pull off a 35-32 win. This gives Christoph Moni's boys an even larger advantage on the table, taking them to 40 points and giving them a comfortable 7-point buffer between them and the second placed Mauléon. Fortunately the likes of Malavard and Canizares will be coming back into the squad which should help them to victory at home against a very determined Boucau Tarnos on 08/03, who are playing for their survival in the Fédérale 1 competition. ...
It's tough for Nice
Thursday, February 26, 2009
The clear victory over Argeles (16-0) on Sunday leaves a bitter taste at Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur, not only because the Niçois missed qualification for the play-off by a hairsbreadth, but also because they lost four players in this match: prop Kevin Yates (victim of a double fracture of the orbital bone following a punch), the scrum-half Greg Chambon (sprained knee), the opener Josselin Lapierre (fractured wrist), winger Adrien Malavard (sprained ankle) and Damien Canizares (suspended 10 days following a red card)......
