Bouncing back...

Monday, October 19, 2009
The heavy defeat in Béziers (38-11, 4 tries to 1) is a huge disappointment for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur, however this severe scoreline does not fairly reflect the difference between the teams on Saturday. In the opinion of many observers Nice were out of luck from the kick off. There was a strong wind which blew in Béziers favour during the first half which then died during the second half when Nice would have benefitted. Added to this three yellow cards left Nice at fourteen men for 30 minutes which is a huge handicap in front of such a strong opposition as Béziers.

The scrum was a success but the line outs posed a problem for les Nicois once again. Bastien Sainte-Croix and Grant Hill made their mark on the game and Ross Beattie and Julien Caminati again confirmed their top form but it is now up to all the players to perform to the high standard expected of them this season.

With three home games in a row coming up: Nice V Tournefeuille Sunday the 25th October, Nice V Chateaurenard Sunday the 1st November and Nice V Monteux Saturday the 7th November now is the time for the Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur to really start their season and place themselves as serious contenders to qualify for the Jean Pratt play offs. Now is the time to react.
